Hi,

I've just signed up. I'm looking to buy a Mill and convert it to CNC, I'm also interested in building a router / laser table.
I'm a CAD Design engineer by trade and I mostly work in the Motorsports / Automotive sector. I work in Catia V5 but have recently installed Fusion 360 as I've heard a lot about it.
I'm looking at buying and later converting an Amadeal AMAT25/35LV so am interested to hear of people's experiences with these machines. I'm now following This link (http://www.mycncuk.com/threads/8584-complete-conversion-kit-for-AMA25LV), but am interested in anything else relevant.

I'm happy to help out with CAD related queries, seeing as this is my speciality, bearing in mind, I'll be doing a lot of brain picking on here myself, for all the CNC related stuff.

Hopefully I can glean some good info on here, but I thought I'd say hello first.

Cheers
Ade

Hi Hix,

welcome aboard. If you wanted a more suitable machine to convert, do look at the link that Boyan posted, to my hobby mills. Unlike the other suppliers you mention, I actually have a bit of experience using the machine and also am working on a plug and play conversion kit.

At the time of writing, there is only one left out of this shipment. More to come in a couple of months.

Thanksfor the cross post Boyan.

Just finished converting an AMAT25LV. Works nicely. Decent little machine with good service from Amadeal. They're just the bog standard rebadged chinese mill available all over the place but reasonable for the money.

Depends on what you are planning on machining as to whether the 25 is big enough. They're only a smallish hobby mill after all, good chip clearance from mist coolant helps and I added serious stiffening to the column to keep everything as rigid as possible. Its cuts better than I expected (coming from a Bridgeport).
