Hi

I have a few projects coming up and i need to engrave aluminium with fine lettering what would be a good mill bit to use?

Also i need to create a detailed image out of aluminium. Do i just use a ball nose for this?

hope someone can give me some advice.

difficult to say what to use for your lettering without knowing what sort of style you are hoping to achieve and the type of text.

Carbide is always going to be a good idea where small and thin tools are required due to the high rigidity, but beyond that it's a bit difficult to answer your question.

For 3d relief I don't have much experience myself but I believe most tend to use a tapered ball nose, like these for example: https://www.toolstoday.com/p-6225-ball-nose-conical-ball-solid-carbide-spiral-cnc-2d3d-carving-tapered-and-straight-zrn-coated-up-cut-router-bits.aspx

Its really light fine lettering. That similar to engraving on Dog tags for example.

and the detailing is for a stable sign with a picture of a horse on it.
