I haven't fitted greasing fittings to my carriages as it's a PITA with the 15mm Hiwin's. Can I get away with just oiling the rail and then moving the carriages a few times over the oiled area.

I bought 2nd hand Hiwin and when I first got them they were a little tight but the jig had not been moved in a long time. I added a little synthetic engine oil to the rails and ran the carriages a few times over the oil and because super silky smooth like my clone rail is (Clone rail and carriages were new). I also realised I'll have to strip it down to add greasing points so oiling the rail would save me a lot of hassle.

The idea of greasing the actual carriage, is it lubricates the passageways and provides lubrication for a good period, plus it helps to flush out contamination. By just oiling the rail, at best you'll get a coating of oil on the balls, and are more likely to get contamination into the carriage.

Someone posted a link to these 4mm fittings a while back, and I ordered 20 of them. But I haven't checked to see how well they'll work.

Hiwin carriages already come with a grease nipple, at least mine did, but you will struggle to find a fitting for them that does not leak grease everywhere, there seems to be a lot of back pressure from the bearing.

Recommend lubricate through the oil nipple on carriage, during the working there may have some dust or scarf inside the carriage, and it is possible can clean out part of the tiny dust during the lubrication.

Do you sell something to adapt the 15mm carriages grease points to standard grease nipples?

Seems grease nipples are standard accessories for all of HIWIN carriage,so every HIWIN carriage will comes with a grease nipple.
