Not in the mood to pay a locksmith so what's the best way to crack the lock.

I was thinking angle grinder and cutting discs but my mate seems to think the lock will just break the cutting discs and make a mess that's harder to deal with.

Open to suggestions.

Which bit are you attacking?

The sliding bar I can fit a cutting disc in between the door and the frame.

Really good locks have rollers in bushes in the bolt to slow down saw and grinder attacks, but very light pressure with a slitting disc will still get through them, it just takes longer than with a straight steel bolt.

I prefer the standard Euro locks in UPVC doors for easy access, a couple of landlords I know call me in for changes where the keys are missing, takes about a minute with a battery drill, quality bit and a key blank.
I haven't been asked to deal with a decent lock, I'd hate to have to break into my own house!
