Hi all.

Looking for some lube for a couple things....

I have a HMI light with moving parts inside to change focus.
These lights can get quite hot (I think 600-800c?) so I need some lube that can withstand those temps.

(The part that needs greasing does not get 600-800c, it is under the bulb but still gets quite hot)

Also, where to get the linear rails lube from?

Thanks
Jack,

There is proper guideway lube from manufacturers like mobil, which I think would be a massive waste and too expensive for the sake of cheap chinese copy rails on a little router.

The de facto is white lithium grease, which you can get anywhere.

Anything lubricating should do the job though, motor oil etc... I've been using silicone lube on mine and the ballscrews, with the rails and screws exposed and constantly getting showered in shit, all the chips and stuff stick to grease and oil but the silicon prevents that, nice and easy. Just go round with a quick regular spray.

Re. linear rail lubrication.

Have a read at this thread; http://www.mycncuk.com/threads/4862-Profiled-rails-Installation-guidelines-and-manufacturer-comparison-chart

The right stuff at a good price is here; https://www.toolstation.com/shop/Automotive/Mechanics%20Tools/Lithium%20Grease/d60/sd180/p89691

Snapper mentioned silicone spray. That would be no good to me because if it gets on wood it prevents any finish from taking, silicone is anathema to me in general.

Can you finger the cartridge to get the lube out or do you need the gun?
Might be easier for my application to go with the spray as I am not working with wood and would allow easy application if I was to use this on my HMI...?
