Hi guys,

I am nearly finishing my new CNC router and now looking at the best place to source the spindle. I have come to two options. Does anyone have any advise for which to pick?

*1st Option* - Buying spindle and VFD separately - VFD - £56 / 2.2kw spindle - £135 / Total £192

XSY-AT1 VFD - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220V-2-2KW-Spindle-Motor-Speed-Control-Variable-Frequency-Drive-VFD-Inverter-WD/292375102980

2.2Kw spindle 4 bearing version - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CNC-MILLING-ENGRAVING-GRINDING-2-2KW-WATER-COOLED-SPINDLE-MOTOR-ER20-RPM24000/251999417876

*2nd Option* - Spindle and VFD as a kit - Total £209

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOP-2-2KW-WATER-COOLED-SPINDLE-MOTOR-2-2KW-INVERTER-DRIVE-VFD-CE-QUALITY/302621312731

Are there any differences in VFD quality? It seams like the XSY-AT1 VFD is newer but the version in the kit looks like the standard one everyone has used before.

Finally, is the 4 bearing version spindle the best way to go? The price is very slightly more but I will be cutting aluminium so probably would get better life/quality?

Thanks, Jack

In my opinion the option 2 looks like the better one. Well tried and tested

Agree the second option as the VFD brand is popular and there will be lots of help around to set all the parameters (they are not plug and play unless the seller has set it up for you).
Only thing that about the second option is the seller only has a few sales.

I agree with that, this is my preferred seller. But I have seen them for £208 the exchange rate may have changed.

Thanks guys!

Yeah think that's the route I will go then, I noticed some have Japanese bearings and some have German, is there any difference or is that just marketing speak?
