Hi

Im having issues with my tailstock it locks up sometimes and is a pain to sort.

I want to take the tail stock apart to take a better look. Can anyone help?

Hi
Don't have MD65 but the tailstock is a relatively simple piece of kit, the quill is very similar to a drill, has a key slot running it's length and a peg in the casting prevents it from rotating, take it off the machine and strip it, it should be fairly easy to see the problem.

Thank you.

I worked it out. There is a nut attached to the threaded rod deep inside the morse taper insert part. I manged to get a socket inside to hold the nut while i unscrewed the tailstock handle.
