Hi Techno,

Depends whereabouts in London and whether you will have access to a car or not...

Some suggestions:

MachineMart (http://www.machinemart.co.uk)- they do a range of machine tools at various shops in the Capital

Chronos (http://www.chronos.ltd.uk/)- not in London, but a short drive or train ride North, an Aladdins cave

TPH (http://www.tphmachinetools.co.uk/)- to the east side of London

Hi Techo

How is sunny Belgium, whereabouts are you?

If you are limited to using London Transport (the metro here is known as the 'tube') then MachineMart is about the only place I know of that has a showroom in London (they have three), although not all showrooms have machine tools in stock so a phone call beforehand would be sensible.

There is a good route planner for London at www.tfl.gov.uk (http://www.tfl.gov.uk), outside of London use www.transport-direct.info (http://www.transport-direct.info)

TPH is about 80 minutes from central london and involves two tube trains and a bus.

Chronos is a 40 minute train ride from Central London then a 20min bus ride or a local taxi.

There is a secondhand machine dealer, I think they do tooling, sort of near the southern end of chelsea bridge. heading towards chelsea bridge from the south it's down one of the right turns off Queenstown road.

There is another secondhand machine dealer, specialising in home workshop stuff. They are in Sidcup, I consider that London.

There is a large secondhand machine dealer in Penge or Crystal Palace. I haven't been there for twenty years, so it may have closed down and I can't remember the name of the place;-)

There is a big sheet metal machine place in Sutton, but they have a wharehouse full of machine tools aswell. It might be called Hatfields.
again not sure of address, it's left at gander greenlane and then 2nd right;-)

There is a place in Clapham, it's among the houses. You cross the road at a pub that was on 'Minder' and turn in behind the houses:-) I phoned for directions and that is pretty near what he told me, the pub had been on Minder the night before. How I found it god knows. I know another half a dozen like that, but I would have trouble finding them let alone giving directions.

I don't know of many toolshops as I tend to use buck and hickman or SKS. but I noticed on the buck and ryan website that they have a shop near Tottenham court road.

Thats great graffian lol, I have lived in London all my life and I'd have problems finding them from your directions, :heehee: let alone poor Techno from Belgium! Seriously tho, you don't know the name of the one in Chelsea by any chance?
