Hi everyone out there.

I'm completely new to the CNC world, and have just been gifted one of the Cninese 1310 kits; I have a little home workshop with a mill and a lathe, and a 3D printer set up that i use to try and cobble together some of the things my imagination can come up with. I'm hoping that the rig will be able to cut some PCB's and I believe that it can do light work on Aluminium

I'm a litle in the dark as to the limitations for the 1310 as there's not much out there that i can find as to how to set the machine up properly; although ive heard that the factory firmware that come on the machine should be replaced to i can use some of the better commercially available sortware (thoughts would be appreciated on that one please)

I'm quite excited to get stuck into this and hope to speak to you all in the forum soon.

Cheers

David

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum!

Please take a look in the " Chinese Machines " sub forum for a start on these types of machine.

In short, PCB's and light (soft metals) work sums up the limitations of these machines quite well.

These particular machines I believe use the Grbl CNC controller https://github.com/grbl/grbl

I dont know much at all about using GRBL, I do know a good choice of CAD software to use could be a package called Fusion 360, as I know this has a GRBL post processor, Fusion 360 is also free to use for diy/hobby users, its made by the same people as AutoCad so has quite some backing, we also have quite a number of users on the forum.

Fusion 360 Link: https://www.autodesk.com/campaigns/fusion-360-for-hobbyists

Good luck with the machine.
