Hi Guys,

I have a number of projects in sheet aluminium (6082) that will need powder coating.

Has anyone got recommendations for a kit?

I've seen two currently:

This one seems to be everywhere and is an obviously bulk produced OEM variant that gets rebadged.

and this one, which looks like it doesn't need a high voltage setup?:

All input welcome.

I've got the second one and it works great. Really easy to use and simple to clean. The only important requirement is that your air must be dry, but that's true of all powder coaters.

I have the second and it is pretty good.
Not sure how it compares to a powered ones though.
I find there is a lot of waste with it.

Also found that it can block internally too.

The blocking is due to damp air, I had the same issue until I put a better drier/filter on the air supply. After that I never had any more issues.

My issue would be the oven, for two reasons, 1. it is a fan oven and 2. Her Indoors. I bought a mini oven for heating sheets for vac forming, but she saw it and I lost the oven:mad:

Thanks guys - useful info as ever.

Next trick once I get a kit and get it working, is to see if I can silk screen print or use another method of putting text and vector graphics on the powder coated surface.

Seems like I need a powder coating kit in my toybox.
