looking at a Leinen lathe. It is 3 ph. 3speed motor I only have 1 ph. What convertors will work on a 3 speed motor? What would I be giving up to change to a 1 ph. 220v motor. Could I have a useable machine? Are these lathes any good have never seen one before. A lot more to it than the South Bend that I had.

Keep the three phase and get VFD to run it - far better than converting to single phase.
Have a look here (http://www.lathes.co.uk/leinen/index.html) for info about Leinen.
They are great machines and I would love to have one (if space and money permitted)

thank you. Bambuko for the info. Will go and have another look at this machine and make an offer. Not shure how easy thing like steadys will be to come by over here. there are none with it . Most of my work for it will be in inches but it hase 1000 grad dials and 6 loose threading gears Not shure if this is the full set. It is not hooked up so can not see it running. thanks again Rae...
