Hello, is it possable to wire two drivers to the same axis on a breakout board??

the system4 board i've just got from Roy at diycnc dose have the option of connecting the X and A axis together for dual motors on the X axis but it'd be good to keep the option of a 4th axis in the future

advise needed

in theory you can slave two drivers off the same step/direction/enable signals. The drivers should be identical as should the motors to ensure the two sides behave similarly.. Personally if you have the System4 I'd use the onboard X+A option and if you want a 4th axis later get a standalone single channel driver...

Cheers Irving, i reckon thats what i'll do then.

plus that means i can keep going with what i've got and cross the bridge to the 4th axis when i get there

via the breakout board... assuming there are some spare pins, else a second parallel port card. A PC has 3 parallel ports defined in hardware, but usually only one fitted. You can buy a second card for about £15-£20, plus a cheap breakout board...
