Found this simulation tonight whist I was looking for something else which I have since forgot what it was, I blame the aluminium saucepans http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Anyway I have this friend who has a Rolls Royce Merlin that he takes to exhibitions, steam rallies and other shows.
He's done a tremendous amount of work on this engine with very little money but he loves to show it off.

He asked me if I would make him a Rolls Royce badge for his display board, we have one on our CNC display board we take to shows done in white plastic.

As I regard this guy as a special friend I thought I'd do him a special badge, after all there are loads of RR badges out there.

I took the original badge drawing we had and widened it, moved the ROYCE to the top and put MERLIN at the bottom.
Then I did a web search for Merlin the magician which was hard to get a decent picture, plenty of rubbish drawings, and pit this at the side.

All this was done in VCarve pro, and took about an hour not counting looking for a decent merlin.

Processed and the simulation came out like this.

Stuck a piece of brass 5" x 4" on the little router and 45 minutes later got a nice badge out.

He was dead chuffed, now I have to wait until the Pickering steam rally to see it and take a picture as i gave it him before I thought to take one.

Better still I may do another for my board <g>
