So I was messin about with my bearings last night(ooer missus).

I pondered on why there has never been a bearings bore been threaded? this will then be much easier to put a bearing on a shaft and have the thread anticlock wise if the rod will be rotating clock wise and vice versa.

Just another thought:whistling: any reason this has never happened?

then they would have to make three of every type of bearing, as i doubt everyone would want to thread their bearing on. But proboably the main reason why they don't make bearings that have threads on the inside bore, is one of accuracy. The bearing normally fits onto an accurately sized shaft, and provides an accurate alignment between a shaft and housing.

Just stop and think about this.

tolerances, right hand , left hand or both rotations. what do you grip on to tighten ?

if you think it's a good idea why not patent it ?
