First project is to convert an X-Y table to Mach3 control. The primary aim here is to learn about the Mach3 software.

So we have on the table (from Zapp):

Stepper Motor: SY60STH88-300*BF (qty 2)
Drivers: PM542 (qty 2)
Power Supply: EP002G1 (qty 1)
Breakout Board: ZP5A-Int 5

Now at this point we would really appreciate if someone would kindly assist by providing a wiring diagram for all of the above.

(Of course, this would be a good point for someone to suggest/recommend an alternative to Mach3)

Many thanks

Karl

There are adequate wiring diagrams in the PM752 driver manual from Zapp. The breakout board will make it easy - you basically connect a wire from each output, to the driver and another wire from the driver back to ground.

Stepper motors, again look at the datasheet for the diagram which shows you the wire colours and work it out from there. If once you've connected the motor to the driver, and with nothing powered up, the motor is harder to turn then the motor is wired wrong so check it as that would probably break the driver. That's about all that could go wrong...

Let me know if you need more info.

Big thanks to Gary at Zapp who helped with a work-around to an on-going mystery with the breakout board power supply alternatives: USB v external. Mach3 now appears to be driving the stepper motors nicely. Project moving forward ....
