Hi,

First I'm going to warn you that I don't know a thing about lathes / CNC...

Take the thing on this page:

http://www.japantrendshop.com/ice-ball-mold-for-perfect-ice-spheres-p-244.html

While the small version is fairly cheap ($216) the next smallest is way more expensive ($1393).

Could someone explain to me if there is any technical reason for this (material cost? production time? complications to create a sphere that big? size?). It's just a big block of aluminium with a sphere cut out :whistling:

How much do you recon it would cost me if I wanted someone to create a similar device for me? (for a 55mm sphere), around the same or could I get off cheaper?

Thanks,
Andreas

I wasn't intending to use aluminium.

For some reason I really, desperately wanted you to follow that with "...I'll make it out of ice."

I'm.. err... having one of those days. Ignore me
