Hi,

I was hoping someone could give me some help with my Dore Westbury milling machine. I‘m not sure what the model number is though. (picture attached below)

I have absolutely no experience with milling machines so am finding things very confusing.

I need to be able to skim a fraction of material using a fly cutter.

As I mill across the material (winding away from me) the cut my side of the spindle is deeper than the cut the other side.

I have done a bit of research and I think the pitch of my machine is out?

I can see how you would adjust the yaw (which seems fine) but I cannot see how you could adjust the pitch?

Any help regarding this matter would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Richard

You need to put a dial indicator attached to a bar in the chuck to measure the relative height of the bed at a large radius. Measure the 4 points (x+,x-,y+,y-) to find how much it is out in each. To correct it you'll probably need to use shims. Search on google for 'tramming' a milling machine and you'll find lots of information about it.
