What is involved in converting my ER16 2.2KW spindle to an ER20 type?

...I didn't expect to use many 1/2 inch shaft bits at the time I bought it, and now I have one!

Alternatively, could someone reduce the shaft on the bit from 1/2" to 10mm? It's a large 45deg V Groove cutter.

It's basically not realistic. Since the ER20 taper is bigger than the ER16 you would have to get a new spindle shaft made, which is going to cost a huge amount.
Some sort of 10mm to 1/2" adapter would work, but you would have to be very careful on how big a cut you take with that as it wont be very strong unless supported by another bearing.

Not worth the trouble you can buy a good quality TCT V cutter with 1/4" shank for £23. It would cost at least half this to have some one do it then you have the wait etc.!

Thanks Jazz, I've ordered one. I couldn't find any with a significant depth of cut with a 1/4" shank.

...now I have an expensive 1/2" shank bit to get rid of!
