Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would share my build with everyone. This is my first attempt at a CNC router.

I am currently at a little bit of a sticking point when it comes to ball screws! I managed to pick up some UNMACHINED! ball screws and nuts off the bay with little idea of how challenging it would be to get them machined.

If anyone could recommend a cost effective way of getting two 16mm ball screws machined in the Midlands area I greatly appreciate it! If not I will have to bite the bullet and buy a couple pre-machined.

This is how it looks at the minute!

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Profiled linear rails and ball-screws and your using MDF for a Frame.? . . . Crazy MADNESS.!!

Take them to your local technical collage and ask them if they need some practice.!!

That's not such a bad idea :)

I was lucky enough to get the one ballscrew and all the linear rails for free as well as a sheet of nice plywood, so technically not mdf :) I have doubled up 18mm birch faced ply why I was hoping would suffice for V1.

The plan is to replace with Ali once it's working to an extent.

Im sure it must of taken a lot of hard work, so fair play to you sir.

It may be made of wood, but atleast you've made a start.. If you do eventually get round to replacing with ali... atleast you will have a machine to make the new one with :D

top work, and keep us posted with updates.
