Hey has anybody had any issues trying to upload files to the new Open Source section? i have to be honest that is a section worth having. i think it is a great idea that will go long way to help people out. The problem is file extensions allowed by the site.

Lee if your reading this could you allow

DXF
DWG
CB
NC
NGC
STL

Probably a load more but that is the main ones i use. Might be worth others chipping in here with any more?

:yahoo: Thanks Lee

Great Job

If you just change the file extension to .txt then you can upload whatever you want. Not the most secure system is it...
Either way that's mildly annoying, so I expect Lee will do something about it.

Agree i know that works but it's much easier if people can see exactly what it is. I'm sure Lee will pick it up.

I think the section is dam good idea though as it gets round the site cnc build problem. At least people can put stuff up and people take what they want without contest between ideas. Surprised you were not the first to put something up?

Not sure what you mean by cnc build problem?

I hadn't noticed it was there! I will be posting things in that section.

Echo echo? people can read

The problem of nobody agreeing on a forum cnc build. If people are posting their ideas in that section then people can make their own mind up what THEIR forum build will look like.

Its secure JB, the server runs a firewall and also an antivirus, there is also a number of scripts running that keep me informed of server activity ;-).

Yes if people can/would chime in with the file types they work with, its a small task adding support for them so not a problem. I'm thinking there will be quite a few type's so will probably have to do this on a request basis, so anyone reading this please add a request below !

Thanks for that Lee

the help file says vcarve can save in .DXF .EPS .AI .PDF

and import in addition
.DWG
.PVC (thought that was plastic LOL)
.V3M
.v3D

Don't know if that helps or hinders
