Anybody got any recommendations for software for doing accounts?

I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that can handle making sure I've got everything in order, and help come Tax Return time.

I'm using a spreadsheet just now, but it's not exactly ideal for tracing things. Reports would be a nice addition to have.

I use
Small Business Accounting Software - Small Business Bookkeeping Software (http://Www.cashflowmanager.co.uk)
Comes in under £200 and you don't have to be online to use it. Basic system but does everything to save money with the accountant etc.
Let me know if you need any further info

I use VT Transaction + for my business, nice and easy to use, easy to edit with not trail or history unlike Sage. You can download a free trial that last 60 days

Thanks guys.

Cashflow Manager looks like the easiest to use I've seen so far, and seems to tick all the boxes I'm looking for.

I'm not a fan of online software for critical stuff, so looking for something Windows based.

Cashflow manager works fine if you don't have any company customers that work on 30+ days payments from date of invoice as cashflow manager does not have the facility to handle this but otherwise is easy to setup and use.

I use an ancient version of Quickbooks - does all I need for a smallish business. I do the quarterly VAT returns but the accountant handles the year end and payroll stuff.

Now its time to go ahead with cloud based accounting software. There are lots of software for accountants available like, clearbooks, sage, nomismasolution (http://www.nomismasolution.co.uk/) (I am using this one), xero.

Thanks,
