Hi all

Found this machine on ebay, what would your opinions be, It looks like a chinese import.

CNC Router 3kw Spindle 1200* x 1300* x 200 Work Area- Complete! Vacuum Bed! | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CNC-Router-3kw-Spindle-1200-x-1300-x-200-Work-Area-Complete-Vacuum-Bed/151120391251?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D286%26meid%3D1464117812445683453%26pid%3D10 0005%26prg%3D1048%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D151120 977287%26)

The only strange thing is there are 2 machines for sale with identical descriptions but different pics.

I was looking at this a while back. Either the guy makes them or something is putting the punters off. Mind you I have not read the description. But same old pics as when I looked also.

Personal I like it. If I had the cash I would defiantly think about it.

These are a standard Chinese design. You can import them cheaper.

Plenty on AliExpress.com - Online Shopping for Electronics, Fashion, Home & Garden, Toys & Sports, Automobiles from China. (http://www.aliexpress.com)
Probably best to ask on CNC zone if you're interested in getting one as there seems to be a lot of people there discussing them.

As said above, that type of machine is readily available direct from China. Depending on spec, they start at around £1500. The one you link to on eBay is around the £2500 mark. I guess the seller has been a bit too greedy and could probably sell these like hot cakes at a more realistic £3000 - £3500.

With a machine this size, the shipping will be to a sea port (Felixstowe normally). You have to pay duty, VAT and freight forwarder fees.

I've considered this before as I live close to the port and have family in the transport business.

As birchy says, people would pay £3500 for one in the UK. Fine for wood work.

I love seeing the "factory" pictures on AliExpress.

I have been getting some quotes for the chinese machines and have so far got the following info. all show vac table as extra.

Exitech 1212 2,2kw spindle 1220 x 1220 ........$5300
Omni 1212 2.2kw spindle 1200 x 1200 Rack and pinion $5150
Omni 1212 2.2kw spindle 1200 x 1200 Ballscrew $3950
( I thought ballscrew was generally more expensive than R&P?)
Jinang King Rabbit 3kw spindle, 1300 x 2500 $4500

Vacuum tables vary in price from $500 to $1,990 depending on manufacturer and type.

On top of this price you would have to add the following.
shipping to nearest port (anything from $300 to $1700)
transport from port to workshop probably $400 to $500
Import duties depending on country
Demmurage charges and customs clearance.
And VAT on top of everything

So going for the cheapest option
$3950 router
$500 vac table
$300 shipping
$400 transport from port of delivery
Sub total $5150
Import duty (depends on taric listing, still trying to find out) but lets guess at 20%
$1030
+23% vat on top of all of this $1421 dollars

Grand total $7601
That's approx £4,745 sterling and 5,621 Euro

So the price on ebay doesnt look that bad.

Sure they would sell at 3 grand like hotcakes but he wouldn`t even cover his costs.

Even 2.5K is 3K with just the VAT added, but there is quite a few more incidentals than that to cover, too big to air freight and sea shipping becomes a whole different ball game, been talked about here before
