Eddy that's just a simple touch plate, it's just plate with wire to input. Think Leadhead is wanting a 3D Probe.?

Leadhead I have made a couple of probes and they are not hard to make but you will need a Lathe.! The hardiest bit is finding the stylus other wise you have to make one. Making one is ok but depends on the type and detail of the object your trying to probe.

I have a spare Body with home brew stylus already made (See pics) that just needs the Internals finishing and if your in no rush I would part with it when finished. Or if too long or short could make one to suit will just need more time has I'm on full tilt already.? . . . PM if your interested.

There's one on eBay...Touch probe cmm digitizing renishaw haas fadal cnc mill lathe router engraver | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150931049789?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)

I'd be interested in how you made the probe Jazz as it's something I'll be getting as I want to reproduce parts and make moulds from parts...
