OK iv seen a 6040 chines cnc on ebay and in the add it said product shiped from the uk so not import tax/ duty to pay. Any one know if this is true ? or is it just to get you to buy then you get hit when it turns up?

this seems to happen quite a bit with all sorts of stuff on auction sites, stuff is being sent by one family member in China to one here in the UK. few different ways they can get round the import duty. Only thing is don't expect the support to be any better jf you have problems just because it was shipped from UK.

I've just got a 6040 and having problems with x axis managed to get things moving in Mach 3 rest of axis are fine but x moves in random directions and sometimes don't move just make humming noise with no motor movement atall

Guess, Wiring from control to motor fracturing, its amazingly brittle, or the TB driver giving up.

Swap X&Y axis plugs over and see which axis gets the problem?

It will be a loose connection to the Direction pin on the board or plug it's a common thing. That or the wire as break in it like MushT suggests as the wires are poor quality.
