Hi Guys,
A friend of mine rents a machine shop with a Bridgeport VMC.
At a very short temporary main power failure the main power supply unit went wrong.
At the moment I do not have picture of it only the machine I can show.
Heidenhain in Germany would repair it on a cost of 4000 EUR.
Have one of you experienced with this issue?

How do they know what's wrong with it, so that they are able to quote a repair cost ?
It looks like a 3 phase machine, maybe one or two of the fuses have blown, which is a common fault with some power failures.

I do not know all the detail just try to help .
May be the new unit costs 4000 EUR.(and they can write)
Normally machine should have protection to this as a machinist thinks.
My friend is familiar with the electronics so assume the fuse is checked.
Somebody took this unit to check (big black box- supply low voltage and everything for servos) I am wonder the result.I try to get more info.

Just to close this:
The fuses were OK and one of the capacitor blown up with burning some foil on panel.
It works again without involving Heidenhain.
