I have a 1 1/2HP DC motor on a lathe that has a manual veriac controller I would like to change to electronic speed control has anyone done anything like this and can point me in the right direction where to obtain one please.

but you would need to find out if your motor is compatible.
Or maybe you could replace it with an AC motor and inverter drive.

Thanks Eddy,

The motor and controller was new 2000 - 2001 so don't want to change the motor just the controller box as it's big at 350 mm square, the supply to NECO box is 240-250Vac and I think the field supply to motor was 170 - 180Vdc
