A little advice please folks.
.

Which is the best way to connect AM882 drives, common cathode or anode?
.
Does it depend on the controller?
.
Anyone care to explain the differences please?

Makes no difference as it's dip switch programmed to whatever your bob needs / is wired if you look in the manual

I think the previous answer was a little misleading. As far as connections go, it depends on your breakout board. The manual shows both possibilities, but I believe that most BOBs use the "fig 3" connections. But you really must check! Can't give a good answer without that info. The DIP switch is important, but it does a slightly different job. The AM882 is triggered by the edge of a pulse, but it can be triggered by either the rising edge or trailing edge and the DIP switch sets this. This needs to agree with whatever you set in Mach3 or whatever you are using. There is a way to test if you have it correct, but I think that usually everything is set up to use the rising edge.

So, a bit more info on the BOB needed for a definitive answer.
