Hi my name is kev and i live in Leigh Lancashire.

I'm just about to entry the world of milling.
At the moment i do a smithy combo lathe/mill but really fancy investing in a better milling machine.

I do like the look of the Warco VMC machines.
Hoping to be able to purchase one with x,y axis power feed and a 3 axis DRO with the intentions of converting to CNC in a few years.

I know that i have a massive learning curve ahead of me and just didn’t want to buy a CNC machine that i have no knowledge of that's until I've learnt some of the fundamentals of milling first.


My knowledge of Milling is pretty low and i ‘m looking forward to talking to some of you good people and hoping to learn a great deal for the forum.

Going to hold back on the purchasing of a new milling machine until I've manage to find my way around the forum, i wouldn’t like to get it wrong and find myself needing to buy and different machine several months down the line.

Hi Sam I've been making a few electronic ecig box mod out of aluminium but I've never been able to add a decorative touch to them nor have i been able to duplicate any.

you dont need a VMC mill to do that kind of work, you can do it all on a cheap desk top router cnc.
this is 1.5mm brass cut on mine

Which desk top cnc router do you have Sam?

its one of these but with a water cooled spindle
