Hi Folks

After many hundreds of hours machining aluminium and plastic we need to replace the Delrin nuts on the X and Y axis of our little Chinese 3020 CNC machine.

Anyone on the forum know if or where these can be obtained?

Hugh

Hi Lee

I think its an acme threaded screw although I have seen them referred to as trapazoidal (I dont know what the difference is! lol) and sized as 12x3, if that helps! :)

Hello,

Have a look on ebay as i know there is one seller in the UK that has them for sale in dif combinations, I know for sure they do the same screw and a matching Tap, so you could make your own if you wanted to buy the Tap? I do have a ACME tap but i dont think its the right size will go and have a look now...

EDIT:

Try contacting this seller: Trapezoidal ACME Leadscrew & Nut - TR8x1.5 TR10x2 TR12x3 TR16x4 - 3D Printer CNC (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161677035647)

They may be willing to sell you just the nuts :).

You tried contacting the original seller? they usually stock spares.

What diameter do you need them? I've got a 12 x 3 tap and some 25mm black or 30 (something) mm delrin rod so could make some for you?

Have you had a look at this thread on making your own. I'm about to try making delrin nuts for my Chester 16v mill using this technique
http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/threads/43645-Making-Acetal-leadscrew-nuts-the-easy-way

As far as i can determine, delrin and acetal are pretty similar (maybe delrin is just a trade name for acetal ?)

Tom, don't!

the forces on the chester are much larger than on the 3020. Stick with your ballscrew idea and use backlash comp in Mach3/4

Not seen that idea before Tom, if we get desperate perhaps it would be worth a shot! :)
