How about this as a controller cabinet ? It's a Network server cabinet I acquired.

The computer will take up 4 units of the racking and the control electronics will be on an ali plate 750 x 500. That leaves a great space 450W x 500D x 750H, ideal for building in a tool cabinet. This photo is of the back. At the moment there is a steel and smoked acrylic door at the front, which will clip in either front or back.

If I were building a small machine, this cabinet could house it all.

This week I built a cabinet from an old HP A6000 PC case, some 1/4 MDF and various hardware I had laying around. It worked great. I did this after adding cable chain assemblies and an almost total rebuild of my router which included tandem Y screws and all new motor and ballnut mounts (made by me) and extra Y axis bearings. Now running rapids of 140ipm on X and Y and 200ipm on Z with high acceleration rates.
