So my Denford's little pump is struggling and I would like more pressure to 'wash away' the chips.

Any thoughts on retrofitting something like this?

It seems to give good pressure, see vid.

I would look at the 'submersible' ones but I dont want to cut the coolant tank if they do not fit into the hole of the current pump. With the pump above I can simply run the inlet into the tank.

If you have any chips in the liquid, then your pump will go dead within short time.

For this are the normal centrifugal pump (http://dict.leo.org/ende/index_en.html#/search=centrifugal&searchLoc=0&resultOrder=basic&multiwordShowSingle=on) centrifugal pumps much better, because they have no problem with parts up to 1cm, sometimes more.

Understood however the pump comes with a filter which should mitigate that issue.

I also have dual 'grates' which catch the material and stops it from entering the coolant. Not perfect but the amount of crap that should be in the coolant is minimal.

I recently purchased and fitted one of the 1/8 ph coolant pumps off ebay to my triac, very pleased with it and the power.

Link please? How does it compared to the standard Triac pump?

I found them on Rotagrip's site .... they have lots of nice stuff.

Those are the ones, I can do you a vid over the weekend if you want.

Can't remember what size but they do one thats a perfect fit length wise.

As for power it's plenty of power for me, removes chips out the way nicely

if you want a detailed conversation about a triac then I have plans to add an 10 station atc, it should fit right on without altering the atc setup

(I have some better drawings on my other laptop)

Certainly, would be interested.

Is it just the wheel that needs to be changed?

Thanks. Very helpful. You motor is on top whilst mine is in the cavity lower down (the full coolant system) so mine will have to pump a bit higher but not a lot more.

I could try and fix the motor setup I have, could machine a new based for it but probably not worth the effort. Id probably go for the 1/4 HP motor if I can get it to fit without cutting the sheetmetal.

Thanks once again.

I am thinking about replacing the pump on my triac also, I have the large coolant tray like yours Chaz.
I found these coolant pumps made by excel machine tools. You can buy them from brammer.co.uk. The 1/8hp one is £82 and the 1/4hp is £145.

Out of interest, have you measured the physical size of our pump to know what size will be a like for like replacement without needing to make holes or cut the motor mount wider?

I haven't but I will put all the dimensions on here when I get my tray back. It had obviously been left with coolant in it for some time before I bought it, all the water had evaporated off and the oil stripped the paint from the bottom of the tank. It is at the local bodyshop being stripped and powder coated.

Ah OK. Not a biggie, will take me a few mins to measure.

Ok, measured.

The HP of the coolant motor is only 0.08 HP. Lol.

Height from the mounting flange to the pump suction area - 150mm.
Hole in Coolant Tank - 90mm.
Distance between mounting hole centres - 115mm.

Do you have some dimensions of your pump?

Hi Chaz,
Just got my tank back so assembled it at the weekend. My dimensions are the same as yours, my pump is a sacemi IMM50A also 0.08hp.
This looks like a good replacement...

http://www.pumpsalesdirect.co.uk/spv18-stem-170mm-3ph.html

Would just need to make up a 20mm spacer to mount on.
They also sell a single phase version.
