Chinese CNC machines - Request
Hey guys,
New here but have a been a bit of a lurker.
I have spent weeks researching these Chinese CNC machine, specifically the CNC 3040, 3020 and 6040.
I was wondering 2 things.
One: How have people found any of these machines with aluminium, ideally the 800w or 1.5kw version.
Two: does any one local to Manchester own one of these who wouldn't mind me having a look before i purchase?
Thanks in advance
Craig
Re: Chinese CNC machines - Request
Hiya, I have a 1200x1200x100 3kw spindle machine arriving Monday. You would be welcome to come and have a look/play if you wished!
Simon.
Re: Chinese CNC machines - Request
Thats a big beast, especially comapredto the 3040....
Mind i ask what that cost you?
Re: Chinese CNC machines - Request
hehe, It is I guess a little larger, but the same company makes them down to 300x300....
The cost? Well, I sort of keep that close to my chest ;p
They sell for around £3700 to £4000 complete ready to go...
EDIT: The 300x300 is approx. £1350 I think
Re: Chinese CNC machines - Request
Thanks, 300 x 300, £1350 seems alot - I can get a 3040 with a 1.5kw spindle for around £850 shipped.
I just hope its up to the task of aluminium and other soft metals.
Re: Chinese CNC machines - Request
Hiya, It has a 2.2kw spindle.
£850 shipped from China? or within the UK?
I have yet to see any of the GMCNC machines mill any metals.... will have to be on the 'to do' list :)
Either way, your very welcome to come and have a play; It may give you a good idea of quality/standard of the Chinese machines.. and maybe we could 'mill' something!
Re: Chinese CNC machines - Request
That would certinly be nice!
I may get chance to look at one of the 3040's tomorrow as a kind member PM'd me today.
If it falls though i'll let you know as your gesture is greatly appreciated.
I don't drive unfrotunatly so i would have to get the train up.
I have seen on you tube a few videos of the 3040 and 6040 milling aluminium and with sucsess too but non of them really push the machine to its limts unfortuantly to see what it can really do.
Ill be in touch!
Thanks again.
Craig

Have a look here where I milled some of the strongest grade of aluminium with the 3040 and 200watt air cooled motor. http://www.mycncuk.com/forums/showth...ll=1#post30109
It was damn slow, so to be honest the 3040 is not up to it, although I did some softer grade 6mm thick aluminium with reasonable success and at 200mm/min (1mm pass). Given how my 3040 does, I'm reaosnably sure the 6040 with a 1.5KW motor would do pretty well unless you need high speed or very high tolerance.

What is the softest grade aluminium?
Re: Chinese CNC machines - Request
Hey guys
Thanks for your input, I managed to view a machine last night from a very nice forum member.
However with some tweeking we managed to get some reasonbly fast speeds from it.
PLease note, he had no end mills left so we could unfortunatly only use engraving bits, however given the performance i think an end mill would have been better in this scenario.
No in the first portion of the video at 2000mm/m it did break (however i am confident a proper endmill wouldn't have broken)
We dropped the speed down to around 1500mm/m and this munched through quite happily for the next hour or so we played with it.
One last thing to note was lack of clamping, again down to just using all that was avilable at the time so ther eis a bit of flapping going on.
ANy way here is the video.
