Can anyone recommend a suitable machine / build log?

Hello all

My name is Geoff, i'm an electrician from Cardiff. I have just completed the construction of my home workshop and am now ready to plan / construct my first cnc router.
I need a 3 axis machine capable of cutting wood and foams for the construction of moulds and plugs which will then be used to create fiberglass panels. the machine is for hobby use, i'm thinking of an approximate cutting area of 1200mm x 1200mm x 150mm.
I am hoping to complete the build for 3k but this is a flexible budget. I have just started to look through the many build logs here on Mycncuk, i am hoping to find a design I can copy and therefor achieve a quick and efficient build. I'm handy with a Mig so would like a steel base.
I would be grateful to anyone who can direct me to a machine that suits my needs.
