Choosing a high speed spindle
I'm looking to switch my Kress 1050FME for a 2.2kW water cooled spindle, for use on my evolving CNC router build. I am looking to reduce the screaming noise, allow a better selection of cutters to be used, as well as improving runout. I understand this is the way to go.
I suspect that many of you have such spindles, so I wondered where forum members have successfully sourced them from? A few people I know have bought them from CNC4YOU, which feels like a safe choice. However I suspect these are just imported from China and marked up by a significant amount. Looking on Aliexpress and eBay there is loads of choice, and I'm wary of picking up a dud. It's still a not insignificant investment even from China!
Any guidance or past experiences would therefore be much appreciated!
Graeme

This is where I have bought a few https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/26062601854...6856138&crdt=0
Be careful as there are two flavours of the vfd this is the better one check the front panel out.
This is the bad one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-2KW-WATE...3D260626018545
Re: Choosing a high speed spindle
Many thanks Clive - just what I was looking for. Good info on the VFD options too - that clone one is pretty similar until you know what you're looking for!
Just as a point of note - did the delivery actually come from Germany? And if not, did you have to pay import fees and so on?

It came in a few days so I assume from Germany. No fees. But be aware that you will have to change the parameters in the VFD and it depends how you want to control it check the number of poles to match the motor etc

I bought this one

Not sure the difference but looks as if I have the good VFD, came in 3 days from Germany.
When I got it was some bumpf about having 4 bearings but I take that with a pinch of salt lol if it works for 2 years I got my money's worth ;)

I'm assuming I'm not going to get the best price by having a unit from China sent to Australia via Germany. Is the key here to look for a genuine (though how do you tell?) Huan Yang VFD?

Look carefully at the picture of the front panel to see the difference and also below the pic. you will see that you can scroll through the various pics of it and find the one of the inside it should have a double row of terminals with a relay to one side.
You can get them direct from China.
