Cable reel holder
I got so fed up with spools of connecting wire going missing, I made a couple of racks to keep them tidy and accessible. No great shakes with the woodwork, I used 3 A4 sheets of 6mm ply which I got from Kitronics when they were getting rid of surplus stock (22p a sheet) 4 springs, two lengths of 6mm brass rod, 4 M6 nyloks, 4 strips of self adhesive foam and a couple hours work (draw, cut, assemble). Put together with Gorilla glue and screws. There you go !

The springs pull the bar down to lightly hold the wire.

Re: Cable reel holder
Useful... now give me ideas for ad-hoc reel sizes - from similar to what you have there to the wooden reel of 100M x 4-core STP. Cable management and storage is the bane of my life.

Re: Cable reel holder
Looks good nice job,I've got quite a few reels of equipment wire of different flavors now and had the same problem...
...in the end I got a length of 16mm round rail and support it in the middle and at both ends with SK16 rail mounts, tucked it in under the shelf above my electronics bench...problem solved!
