Hello,
What do you think about the OX CNC from OpenBuilds ? I like it's design and the ratio footprint/work-area. I know that the belts aren't the best, and I think they should be replaced by ballscrews. With more bracing on the structure, it seems like a good design.
What do you think ?

I've just deleted 5 minutes of typing but Isembard Kingdom Brunel is spinning like a top in his place of rest!
Just make thicker plates then, out of steel even better :) It's crazy how when you British people post I always have to Google your slang :DQuote:

With the square 20mm linear rails and RM1605 ball-screws specified at the end of that link, it looks to me like that is more of a build-from-scratch than a kit-thingy? Think it would benefit from RM1610 ballscrews on the X and Y axes though.Quote:

What funny is that there's a huge group of people learning about CNC from the ground floor. They're basically doing the same thing that we did 12-15 years ago, but instead of making cheap machines from MDF and skate bearings, they're making crap machines from custom lightweight extrusions. And the first thing they do when they build their machines, is figure out how to make them better. They really don't have a clue.Quote:

Has anybody heard of Sugru, I want to build a machine out of it (with foamboard for strength) to cut titanium with 10cm DOC and at warp speed.

It's funny/depressing in equal measure as all the necessary information is now freely available to those willing to search and read around the subject, I suppose that's not as glamorous as publishing shiny renderings of shonky designs!
