Testing the water, Gerber System 48 or variant

Hi all I am looking for a Gerber System 48 or a variant of it, like I say I'm testing the water for this. I have cash set aside or if you don't want to be machineless I have a CNC 3040 mkII for part x. I just missed one on ebay the other day (gutted) what I'm after is a project, I'm not fussed about the electronics being there. I will be re-fitting the machine with some new steppers, controller and spindle. It all depends on price and condition. I would prefer to keep this project "budget".
