Printed Pattern
Hi,
I print on a glass bed and this effect is created by making a pattern on the bed with a dark ABS dissolved in acetone (basically dabbing with a finger). I think it makes a pretty good faux burr walnut, but you can only do it on a flat surface. This is the top of a harmonica case.

Re: Printed Pattern
Very cool! Thanks for the tip.
What type of material are you using on top of the ABS?

Re: Printed Pattern
Hi,
Here's the finished case. I print in a light brown ABS and the patterns are only on the face which is on the plate, so it picks it up into the first layer of print. Then the insides and sides of the case are brushed with the black ABS solution to give it an uneven darkening to give it a wood effect.

TBH, I am not that pleased with the print as it has warped, the interior cushion was too tight a fit, so the case has to be made a bit bigger. I also changed my mind about the catches and hinges which were chrome, they were a different design, so the pilot holes were printed in the wrong places.
I might do these changes for another harmonica's case.
Cheers,
Rob
