motor making noise but not spinning

I have been using this CNC machine for the last week. it has a 2.2kw water cooled motor. This morning after about an hours use the plug at the top of the motor banged and tripped the fuse. when i turned it all back on everything started up and the motor made a spinning sound but the spindle wasn't turning. after reading some posts on here I have checked inside the plug and re-soldered the ends as one cable looked a little dodgy and also checked inside the motor but all looks fine. The VFD lights up and doesn't show any faults. Can anyone help please.
