    Hi all,

I made this ornament for a friend over the weekend (it references a long running joke between us - heh, you probably had to be there..)

The stand is made from a blank of African black wood I bought a while back which was an ideal size for this project. It's expensive stuff meaning you won't be making too many things out of it, and that's a shame because this stuff cuts and finishes like a dream! It's an oily wood and seems to lubricate the cutter as it goes. Fair enough, I'm running conservatively (as ever) but it was a joy to watch this. Here's a vid:

    (Wood cutting starts at 1.40)

    Really nice work Wal

I'd watched the video from my subbed channel feed on YouTube and hadn't realised that was wood - thought it was a plastic. Seems to mill very nicely.
