Hi Guys,

I have been plagued with a problem on my PC, which was stopping me getting on with a switch on, quick check of my emails, switch off and carry on with my life.

When Win7 starts up I get a lot of disk activity for several minutes, and I cannot start task manager easily to see what is happening. I initially thought it was McAfee updating. When I did get in to task manager I saw a process called CompatTelRunner.exe hogging resources.

So I set about finding what it is.

This is a program distributed by Microshit as part of the 'Windows Experience Customer Feedback Program' or something similar. It seems to have no benefit to the user and only to Microsoft. It was installed on the QT and cannot be easily removed. If you uninstall the update and hide it, it just comes back.

It is part of a series of user tracking tools Microshit are sneaking in.

For now I have disabled the tasks I think are the cause.

They are found here .....

Computer Management
.System Tools
..Task Scheduler
...Task Scheduler Library
....Microsoft
.....Windows
......Application Experience -and also-
......Customer Experience Improvement Program (That's a sodding larff !!!)

Anybody with any tech knowledge of this that can add to solving this can help my understanding of this - Please help.

Cheers,

Rob
