H!, i am Julius. My 2 brothers and i started to make our first ever CNC milling machine 2015.
Its a heavy mineral cast CNC in progress and we already have produced a lot off aluminium wood and plastic chips with it.

i have a YT channel all about our CNC project; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzM...-elxd0LNhkaXPQ
and i also share some models on Grabcad:https://grabcad.com/3dmeister-1

I already got some good infos from this forum, so i decided to make my account.
    i may share a subproject...

    Hi Julius,

    Great machine & videos.
I was a bit concerned when i saw the wooden z-axis plate & table, but i see they were temporary so you could mill the final ones in aluminium.
Very interested in your epoxy/mineral casting. Nicely done.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Hello Greeny, thank you!
We still have to upgrade the spindle for heavy machining. A tool changer would be nice too.
Our first mineral cast, the base, was not perfect. The casting form made from plywood got hot during hardening and it warped. We just should have clamped it down and so we had to correct the base top face thats why there is an elevation under the guiding rails.

Cheers. It's great to hear practical information like that from real experience.

There is a massive thread on cnc zone about mineral/epoxy, but it's a very strange thread.
I have found it almost impossible to get a single piece of useful information from it !!

I will share more infos and experiences about our epoxy concrete cast soon.
You can check out the model of the machine base on grabcad https://grabcad.com/library/cnc-machine-base-1
