Thread: G-Code Sender

  1. #1
    Guys

I have just purchased a CNC XPRO CONTROLLER V3. I'm looking for a G-Code sender for this controller. Mach3 is not compatible. I prefer something for nothing (don't we all) but would pay for the right bit of kit.

    All suggestions will be welcome.

    Mac or PC

    Thanks
    Tony

I see on their website they use CamBam, well have a look at this plugin for it; http://www.cambam.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6482.0
Then download a trial version here; http://www.cambam.info/downloads/
    get this version; 0.9.8.P Released 22 Sep 2015 build 0.9.5729.19316 Rev P

It's not free but you will struggle to find anything cheaper that is anywhere near as good, it's the only CAM software I use.

    Thank-you!

    Is that a G-Code sender?

Sorry don't have any idea, I think I have the process but not sure what software does what at the moment.

I'm planning to use Inkscape to create the svg file and Makercam to create the G-code do I then use CamBam to send the G-code to the controller?

CamBam does CAD and g-code, you shouldn't need any other software, you should take some time to read the CamBam thread I linked to.

Eddy, you should take the time to see what he has, and how it works.

He needs something to send the g-code to his GRBL controller.

    Gerry,

Maybe you could do the same, the plugin I linked to is called "GRBL v1.1 Machine Control and GCODE sender Plugin"

The Plugin installs a 3rd tab in CamBam's tabpanel. Inside the tab you'll find a couple of expanders:

Display --> Shows an LCD display with the most important, realtime, data directly from the machine
Production --> This will be the actual GCODE sender. It's filename is integrated with CamBam's generated CGCODE file
Jogging --> Lets you run around the machine, set it's working origin etc.
Console --> Shows a commandline, from which you can enter and send GCODE directly to the machine and a log window for the commununication between the Plugin and the machine.
Connection --> Lets you select a comport and connect really to the machine. It has an auto USB recognition feature
About --> Some words about the Plugin Wink

    Thanks guys,

CamBam, although a very good piece of software a bit more than I was hoping to pay at this stage of my venture.

    I shall keep looking.

Zapmakers grbl sender is know to brick my type of controller, which is a shame because it looks ideal.
