I have a Step four CNC hot wire cutter, I am using the supplied parallel port dongle, being Step Four no longer exist i am now wanting to upgrade the dongle to a usb dongle to enable me to upgrade the old computer i have been using, any suggestions would be appreciated.

The simple answer is you can't upgrade the dongle as the company no longer exists.
Depending on how the software interrogates the dongle you may be able to use a USB to parallel converter, but you will still be restricted to a Windows version which supports the parallel port so Windows 10 is a non-starter,

You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D

Thanks Nick, I didn't think it would be straight forward.

Devfoam + DevCnc Foam cnc + usb LPT interface = for less than 150 euro you have the best software to drive your foam cutter http://www.devcad.com/eng/devcncfoam_f1.asp
