Hi, My name is John and I go by jcarpenter on forums. I am a retired mechanical engineer, have been playing with CNC machines for a few years and built a couple of routers fashioned from linear actuators. Getting ready to build an extrusion based router to machine a half sheet of 4x8 plywood. Am a little burnt out from the 100,000 experts on everything on the US forums. The advice here seems to be more reasoned and calm. Particularly concerned with resonant structural vibration.

I have a fairly nice shop in my two car garage with a full size CNC knee mill, an ORAC CNC lathe, couple of small CNC routers, and the rest of the normal machining equipment. Recently came across 1000 lbs of 3030 and 1530 80/20 extrusions and a couple of 4x8 sheets of 1/4 inch thick 6061. So I am starting to think about a nice rugged 4x4 CNC router.
