# Thread: Huanyang HY02D223B VFD Question

I am setting up my Huanyang HY02D223B and spindle and I have a question I hope you guys can help with. I have the 2.2kw 220v 8.5A 400Hz spindle. I am trying to determine the correct setting for PD143 (No. of motor poles).

Using this formula Ns = 120*f/P

P=120*f/Ns = 120*50Hz/24000rpm gives me a result of 0.25 . which does not make sense!

What have I got wrong?

I think it is two.

3. I think that the reason that your formula gives the wrong answer is that the actual operating frequency when the spindle is at 24000RPM is 400Hz, not 50Hz! So, the answer will be 8 times larger which gives 2, as Clive says.
