Im hoping to build a small low cost desktop cnc for cutting aluminium and plastics.
Cutting area should be around 300x400mm. 100mm Z clearance will be fine.

I love the idea of designing something myself, but I always end up spending way to much time designed and redesigning, and never get anything built! So i decided its best to buy or use an open source design for now, i can always put my own mods on it later i needed.

Iv considered the C-Beam machine, and Iv seen they can cut aluminium quite well with some mods. But im not a fan of the V-Wheel system.
6040 CNC's look okay, nice aluminium bed, big cutting area, ball screws, but im not too keen on the unsupported rails.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions. Id like to keep the total spend to around 800 ish excluding the spindle.
I plan on using a kress 1050 purely because they are simple. Just plug it in and off you go. But I could be convinced to got with a Chinese spindle if anyone can convince me
they are worth the extra effort.

This looks like a name change for Marchant Dice. Bionica is on the same trading estate and their designs look hauntingly familiar . Have a look at my thread 'Sow's Ear'.
I would not recommend ali profile machines for cutting aluminium.

    Cheers,

    Rob

The only way to do that is to weld yourself a steel structure and use cheap supported rails from China. And up the amount of money you are willing to spend. Forget about the Kress. That idea is plain stupid. Water cooled spindle is on another level, even the 800W one. Or buy a mini mill and then make it CNC.

You could also read my email for the quote for the machine you have posted and i have given, so you will understand better what machine for aluminum costs and why. And it is polite to say " thanks" for the quotes given to you , even if you are not happy with price or sth, as somebody spent time to do that and answer your questions. Especially if you are bombarding the forum with the same questions again and again...
