Hi guy,s I am still really enthusiastic about building and setting up a business using a cnc router but reality has hit me and it is not something thatís easy to do unless you are made of money lol. I have been looking for a trainee job to both help with income and to help with experience but I am also open for volunteering without pay to help with my cv.

I recently finished university 2 years ago as a graphics designer and in my 3rd year I chose to study around owning a business by merging my graphic design skills with cnc work to create bespoke furniture. I am finding it hard because most places are asking for a cv but unfortunately my cv has no background regarding any sort of cnc operating,

If anyone can point me in the right direction as I am 100% dedicated to this line of work even if I didnít start my own business I would still be proud of being a cnc operator. I have put so much effort online with the help from you guys and would really like to get on board so if anyone has any kind of advice I would really appreciate it.

    Cheers

    Ash

P.s here is some of my work I did through the last year of university.

Interesting portfolio, but which are physical? I can tell the rings are real because the font has jaggies that appear to be machining artefacts.

Keep in mind that even a free inexperienced worker costs a business money initially, so unless you find a training place times are hard as no one wants to lose money training someone who promptly jumps ship before they've paid back into the business what the business has invested in them.

My advice would to be get a job you can stomach to create income and start something of your own in your spare time, and work very hard on your USP!
You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D

The rings are not real they was made and rendered through 3D software :) I have an interview on Tuesday for a training position for interior based cnc machining with them knowing I have no in house experience but I have a huge passion for it so fingers crossed :)

You might baulk at this - why not (considering your location) approach Rolls Royce in Derby and their apprenticeship program?
