  1. Hello everyone,

I am using estlcam to create gcode, I have a basic engraving tool path, Is there a quick way to engrave in 3 stages, for example engrave the toolpath at .1mm deep, then do another pass but this time at .2mm deep and a final one at .3mm deep?

    Any help would be great

    cheers

If your software doesn't support that it's easy to generate the code for 3 separate jobs at the required depths and then cut & paste the middle out of the second 2 into the first to make one job.
Line numbers in the code are for you and not your controller, you can have multiple blocks of code with the same line numbers in one programme and most controllers don't care.
You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D

I use Estlcam, I would just set my depth of cut to .1 mm in the tools list and depth of engraving at .3 mm

Beat me to that John. That`s just how I do it

  5. thats makes perfect sense, I just didnt know how to set that, for example when I was importing a dxf into planet cnc software, you could state a cutting deptch and then the depth each pass will make, so a cutting depth of 4mm but with 1mm passes if that makes sense.

Think I need to try and work out how to set tool information up
