    Hi Scott
Can't help regarding the electrics, but regarding the sale probably fleabay. anyone looking at the bits and bobs can tell it is a nice machine. If you can get some details from the motor casing and the control gear some of the guys should be able to help.
    Regards
    Mike

Thanks mike will put this in another forum

It's the Motor Data Plate which will tell you what supply it needs.
You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D

How many wires are there in the cable? Single phase will have live, neutral and earth, three phase will have three lives, L1,L2 and L3, a earth and although it probably doesn't need it, maybe a neutral.

However, and please don't take this the wrong way, I am not putting you down, just thinking of yours and your families safety, but if you don't know the difference between a single phase and three phase, should you be doing it? Also have a look at the data plate on the motor, it will say on it weather it's single or three phase.
Also even if it is three phase, maybe it will be a dual voltage three phase motor, and then you can use a vfd on it, but that will be a lot more complex to wire and set up than putting a plug on!

I really am saying this to help.

No I appreciate your honesty and will be having a qualified sparky to take a look for safety reasons cheers scott

Can you photograph the data plate on the motor or the supply cable? The data plate preferably, then I can tell you what supply is needed.

That photo is of a three phase motor, if you send a better picture of the plate, I can tell you if it's a dual voltage motor, if it is, then you can run it on a single phase supply with a vfd (variable frequency drive)
